Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), was an Italian artist, inventor, and scientist who lived during the Renaissance. The Renaissance occurred after the Middle Ages, and was a period of great cultural awakening and scientific discovery. Da Vinci made many contributions to science, technology, and art during his lifetime, but he is probably most famous for his artwork, with paintings like The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
