Today you will create an acrostic poem. An acrostic poem is one in which the first letters of each line spell out a name or word. It is simple and fun to create, and anyone can make one!

This activity is for all ages.

Supplies:

  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen

The Challenge:

An acrostic poem is one in which the first letters of each line spell out a name or word. You can create your own by following these steps!



  1. Decide what you want to write about. Here are some suggestions if you're not sure:
  2. Your name
  3. An animal
  4. Your favorite food
  5. Write your word down vertically
  6. Start thinking of words or phrases that describe your name or word
  7. Write the words or phrases on the lines that start with the same letter



Here's an example using the word MUSIC:

Upbeat

Song

Instrument

Concert


Come up with as many acrostic poems as you can!
