Alphabet Snack

Try to spell out the whole alphabet with something fun in your home...FOOD!

Monday, July 20

You can use anything to make art. Today’s challenge connects to a previous art activity called the Alphabet Photography Challenge (Thursday, July 9) where kids got to take photos of things in their homes that make the shape of letters. If you haven’t tried that challenge, you can find it under the July 6 - July 10 tab. Today, you will get to try to spell out the whole alphabet with something fun in your home…FOOD!

This activity is for ages 6-10, but anyone can join.

Supplies:

  • Any food or snacks from around your home.

The Challenge:

  • Your challenge today is to create the alphabet out of food and snack items.
  • Ask your family which food items you can use.
  • Lay your items out and then try to make the whole alphabet out of what you have.
  • You can make one letter at a time and then re-use your food to make the next letter or you can spell out all of the letters of the alphabet side-by-side.

Extensions:

  • Try making your name or your family member’s names out of the food.
  • Take pictures of your letters, alphabet and words. Try laying them out in different ways to make beautiful photos.
  • Trying making a portrait of yourself, a member of your family, or a friend out of your food. Take a picture and share your work of art with them.
