Short Film Festival

SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

The Boys & Girls Club of San Fernando Valley is proud to announce our inaugural Short Film Festival. This competitive film festival was open to all Club members, with participants ranging in age from 8 to 17. Members created their own films based on one of three themes: 1) If I could, 2) A day in the life of, and 3) What made me smile today.

Participants received weekly feedback and instruction from Club staff and volunteers via Zoom meetings. During these check-ins, members were given guidance on various aspects of film-making, such as how to create a storyboard and how to film a scene from different angles. They also had the opportunity to meet special guests from the film and music industry.

All films have now been submitted, and a panel of five judges will vote for the best films, and the public can also cast a vote for their favorite. For our first contest, $1500 in cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. The deadline for film submissions was Tuesday, July 14, 2020.

The Club would like to thank the volunteer judges and sponsors of this project. Thank you, Dr. Kevin Thomas, Marcia Wright, Byron Brisuela, Edward Campos, Robert Cucuzza, Kyung Lee, and Shane Coleman.
