NBC & Telemundo: Supporting Our Schools!

NBC4 Southern California / KNBC and Telemundo 52 Los Angeles / KVEA announced today the launch of the Supporting Our Schools or Apoyando A Nuestras Escuelas, a campaign designed to raise awareness about the needs of students and inspire its viewers to take action with the television stations and help make a difference in local communities. The initiative kicks off as an immediate call to help students who are the most vulnerable to dropping out of school in hope of achieving a brighter future.

Beginning on July 17, the public can make a donation of popular school supplies at participating Boys and Girls Clubs across more than 20 locations. The public may also make a financial contribution to provide much needed supplies to underserved youth. To learn more on how to donate, visit NBCLA.com/SupportingOurSchools or Telemundo52.com/ApoyandoANuestrasEscuelas.

"We know that education matters among all families in Southern California and this call to action will make an enormous impact to better equip students with basic back-to-school supplies,” said Steve Carlston, President and General Manager of NBC4 Southern California. "Our local efforts will help thousands of students reach their full potential.”

"Helping our viewers access resources needed to succeed is at the core of our business,” said Celia Chavez, President & General Manager of Telemundo 52 Los Angeles. "I look forward to seeing this campaign flourish and help local students prepare for a successful start to the new school year.”

The Supporting Our Schools initiative is a national effort led by the NBC and Telemundo-owned stations located in 20 markets across the U.S. and in Puerto Rico, that seeks to raise awareness about classroom needs and what communities can do to help students.
